CRPF: Central Reserve Police Force

CRPF stands for Central Reserve Police Force ( CRPF). This is a paramilitary group which is the largest Central Armed Police Force in India. CRPF makes up the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Governmentof India. Its main mission is to support the states and union territories governmentsin maintaining peace and order within their respective areas. In the CRPF's central office, the CRPF is within New Delhi, India. In the name of government, India has created the CRPR academy to provide instruction for students who want to be part of the CRPF. As of July 2017, Sh Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar is the Director General of CRPF.

  • "CRPF," as it is known, CRPF is a relic of"the" Crown Representative's Police (CRP) which was formed on July 27 1939 to safeguard British residents who lived in states that were at risk of being invaded by India.
  • in 1949 as a part of the CRPF Act in 1949, CRP was changed to CRPF.
  • On the 21st of Oct. 1959, a tiny CRPF Patrol was attacked the Chinese soldiers. It was the day that twenty CRPF soldiers committedtheir lives to protect the nation. In honor of the sacrifices of these soldiers on October 21, the date of the 21st of October is marked through the Police CommemorationDay.
  • The 1960s saw the majority of police forces across the state joining with CRPF.
  • From 1965 onwards CRPF was guarding their border with India as well as Pakistan. In the following years, BSF had been deployed to secure the border.
  • It played a key role in securing militants in Punjab during the 1980s, and in the insurgency that took place at Tripura in the 1990s.
  • The year 1992 witnessed the creation of a specific segment in the CRPF (Rapid Action Force) was formed through the transformation of 10 battalions which were not part of CRPF to handle the riots.
  • The year was 1986. It was the first time that the Mahila Battalion in CRPF, the 88(M) Bn was formed to handle women's issues.
  • As part of the 2001 Indian Parliamentattack, CRPF killed all the five terrorists who were involved during the incident. In the same year , it was named the most powerful security force in India.
  • in in the year 2008 Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) in 2008 an elite unit of the CRPF was established to stop the Naxal gang.

  • for ensuring that the elections remain safe in high-risk areas

  • To participate in UN Peace Keeping Mission
  • to conduct Rescue and Relief Operation during Natural Calamities
